State of Georgia, Bartow County

In the name of God, Amen.

I, John L. D. Ward of the state and county aforesaid, being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make, ordain, constitute, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament.

First, I wish all my just debts paid. Second, I give and bequeath to my wife Catherine Ward all of my estate both real personal and mixed to be held by her during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or marriage, all of the personal property belonging to my estate shall be sold and equally divided with my children and in case of the death of any of them, their heirs, except the heirs of W. E. Ward. I further give and devise all of my real estate to my son Calvin J. Ward, and to my daughter Sarah D Ward during her natural life or as long as she remains (single) unmarried and at her death or marriage said real estate shall belong exclusively to my son Calvin J. Ward provided said Calvin shall remain with me until my death. But should my son Calvin leave me before my death, then I direct all of my estate both real and personal to be sold and divided as above directed of my personal property. I hereby appoint my son Calvin J. Ward and son-in-law John W. Edwards as my executors to carry out this will, in testimony whereof, I the said John L. D. Ward have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this February twenty third 1872.
