On Wednesday November 18th at high noon, Emma May Thornton, of Talladega, Ala., was married to Dr. Alfred Calhoun, of this city.  The wedding was a quiet home affair, witnessed by relatives and intimate friends.  The parlors were tastefully adorned with palms and roses.  Miss Thornton wore pearl grey satin and carried bride roses.  She was attended by her sister, Miss Genie Thornton.  Mr. John Calhoun was best man for this occasion.  After the wedding breakfast the couple left for a week’s visit to New Orleans.  Mrs. Calhoun’s going away gown was of taupe cloth.
