“Grandfather Jones.”

His Eighty-eight Birthday Celebrated in a Grand Family reunion.

With gladsome and thankful hearts members of the Jones family last Wednesday assembled at the home of the venerable Rev. Samuel P. Jones, grand father of Cartersville’s world famous citizen, the evangelist Sam Jones. The occasion was the old gentleman’s eighty-eight birthday and as has been their wont for several years past, the family membership met in reunion and all felt thankful and glad that through his years of profitable labor on earth he was still spared to be with them and that so many of them had been spared.

The sons of Mr. Jones are Colonel R. H. Jones, of this city; Rev. A. P. Jones, of LaGrange; Rev. W. E. Jones of Atlanta; Dr. Jim Jones, of Alabama, and Mr. Henry Jones, of Hamilton. These were present, with their descendants and formed a pleasant and quite a large party. Short and feeling talks were made by Grandfather Jones and each of his sons and the Rev. J. H. Mashburn.

The dinner was an elegant repast. When the party at last was ready to disperse Grandfather Jones invoked the blessings of the All Supreme on each one present and expressed his hope that each one might be spared for the next annual assemblage.
