DIED, On the 25th of Sept., near Euharlee, Cass County, HENRY YARBROUGH, aged 73 years and 3 days. The subject of this obituary was a native of Fairfield District, S. C., removed to Abbeville in January 1828, and thence to this county, in 1847. He became a member of the Baptist church in 18[number obscured by fold] and though not of a demonstrative character, manifested, by a gentle life and a patient endurance of the afflictions attending his latter years, that he possessed the noblest of Christian virtues. In the fullness of years he is gathered to his rest—nor shall the din and turmoil of this fevered anxious life, any more disturb his calm repose. No! peace! Though his loved ones mourn him, and cannot be comforted—to him all is peace! The “earthly house of this tabernacle is dissolved,” and his soul released from its “suffering clay,” has gone to its reward on high. May the sorrow for his loss be soothed, by the assurance that “For him to die was gain.” |
