Death of Mrs. Word.

The angel of death is seeking out his reaper, many of the elderly people of this section and the landmarks of the early settlement of Bartow county are fast passing away.

Mrs. Kate Word, mother of our esteemed fellow-citizen, Mr. M. F. Word, breathed her last at his home in this city on Monday last, July 3d. She was born in old Cassville in 1834, and was fifty-nine years old at the time of her death. She was partially paralyzed last winter and has gradually laid down the cares of life and peacefully passed away. She has been a faithful and consistent member of the Presbyterian church since her girlhood.

Mrs. Word was the wife of Thomas A. Word, for many years prior to his death in 1880, clerk of the court of Bartow county. She was the mother of two children, only one of whom, Mr. M. F. Word, is living.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. S. Hillhouse at the residence, and her remains were buried at Oak Hill cemetery Tuesday evening.
