In Memoriam.

Mrs. Alice White, wife of Mr. J. M. White, died at the residence of her parents on the 13th inst., of congestion of the brain, aged 19 years, 3 months and 8 days, and was on the 14th inst., buried in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. White was the oldest daughter of Wm. J. and S. J. Collins, and was born on the 5th day of March, 1863.  In August 1878 she made a profession of religion and joined the Methodist church at Pine Log and of which she was a member at the time of her death.  On the 13th day of February, 1881, she was married to Mr. J. M. White.  With her the race from the cradle to the grave was short; but God knoweth and doeth all things for the best and all is well with Alice now.  Death to her was the gate of endless joys and she did not fear to enter there.  She was blessed with kind Christian parents who trained her up in the way she should go, and it might be truly said that Alice was a Christian from her infancy.  Unoffending, kind and affectionate, she was from her early childhood the favorite of both relatives and friends and the idol of her parents, and when she grew into womanhood her gentleness of manners, purity of heart and nobleness of character endeared her to all who knew her.  She was a kind and obedient daughter, loving and affectionate sister and an ever faithful and true wife.  Those who knew her best loved her most and will cherish her memory dearest.

In this sad affliction the grief stricken parents, relatives and friends should receive consolation from the blessed thought that Alice lived and died a Christian and is now sweetly resting under the shade of the tree of life, safe in the bosom of God.---Friend.
