"Death of Aged Citizen Grieves All Adairsville
Calvin J. Ward, One of Community's Oldest Citizens Died Monday--Funeral
Services Wednesday

A shadow of sadness was cast over Adairsville and Linwood for the third time in one week, when it was announced early Tuesday that Mr. Calvin J. Ward had passed away early Monday night at his home three miles south of Adairsville.

Mr. Ward had long been a familiar figure in both Linwood and Adairsville and perhaps no one had more sincere and true friends in these two places than he.

He was twice married, his first wife being a Miss Dansler. Later he married Miss Mary Shaw by whom he is survived. Nine children were born to this union, eight of which are left to miss and mourn him. George, Frank, Charlie and Hubbard (sic) Ward and Mrs. Banna Smith, Mrs. Will Stoner, Mrs. Bessie Jarrett, and Mrs. Lawrence Shippy. Thrity-three grandhildren and two great grandchildren also survive him.

For many years he has been a (blurred) faithful member and steward of the Mt. Carmel Methodist Church (blurred) which funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. J. W. Dean of Cave Springs, assisted by Rev. W. R. Ingram officiated. Music in charge of Mrs. E. D. Veach and the Adairsville quartet. "
