Death of Georgia’s Oldest Editor and Author.

Special dispatch to the Constitution.

Savannah, March 24.—Colonel W. T. Thompson died at his home this evening, at half past eight o’clock, after a painful illness of several months….Col. William Tappan Thompson, the editor of the Savannah Morning News, was born in Ravenna, Portage county, Ohio, on the 31st of August 1812.  His father was a native of Virginia, and his mother a native of Dublin Ireland  Her father took an active part in the revolution of ’98, and came to this country as a political exile.—[very long biography].
