James A. Tate, 93, of Brookwood Drive, Cartersville, died Saturday, March 20, 1999.

Mr. Tate was born Dec. 5, 1905 in Gordon County, a son of Caleb and Minnie Lee Tate, retired from Gulf Life Insurance Company, a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Velma Worthington Tate of Cartersville, two sisters, Polly Curtis of Calhoun and Dimple Knight of Florida, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 22 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Dr. Howard Merritt and Dr. Dewey Davidson officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, was in charge of the arrangements.
