Lonnie (L.J.) Summey, 78, of 641 South Tennessee Street, died Tuesday, August 07, 1984, following a lingering illness.

He was a native of Bartow County, member of the Stamp Creek Baptist Church, here prior to illness he served as a deacon and was a retired grocer.

A son of the late Dock Robinson Summey and Fannie Lue Ella Hite Summey, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Young Summey, in 1978 and is survived by two sons, J.E. Summey and Kent Summey, both of Cartersville; two brothers, Lewis Summey, Kennesaw and L.C. Summey, Cartersville; four sisters, Annie Jackson, Smithville; Susie Abernathy, Pine Log; Sally Belle Darnell and Lue Ella Weaver, both of Acworth; three grandchildren, one great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Elihue Summey and a sister, Fannie Crisp.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the Stamp Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Bill Blackburn officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The following nephews will serve as pallbearers: Dock Abernathy, Johnny L. Summey, Donald Weaver, Wendell Crisp, Jerry Summey and John Jackson.
