Ellison E. (Shell) Summey, 54 of 105 Howard Street, died Monday October 29, 1979, following a short illness.

Summey was a native of Bartow County, a member of the Gilmer Street Baptist Church, was Past Master of Cartersville Lodge No. 63 and was a retired auto mechanic.

A son of the late Andrew Summey, survivors include one daughter, Kathy S. Tilley, Cartersville, two grandchildren, Jimmy Tilley Jr. and Elizabeth Gail Tilley, his mother, Mrs. Lola Summey Howard, Woodstock; one sister, Mrs. Dot Sanford, Cartersville; one brother, Grady L. Summey, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two half-sisters, Mrs. Frankie Berrong, Kennesaw; Mrs. Jo Ellen Lane, Savannah and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Owen Chapel with the Rev. Charles Lowery officiating.  Interment was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers were Fred Head, M.O. Barker, J.V. Matthews, Jim Tilley, Wallace Summey, Brad Hendricks and Buford Kay.
