Mrs. T. J. Lyon has just received intelligence of the death of her uncle, Dr. William Stokes, at Lumpkin. Dr. Stokes was quite a prominent man in his section, having represented his county in the lower house of the general assembly and then his district in the senate. He was also a member of the last Constitutional convention, helping to frame the present State Constitution. |
