Death of Gov. Stephens.
The Great Commoner and the Good Man is No More.

[A long article about the life and death of Alexander Hamilton Stephens who “was born in Taliaferro county, Georgia, February 11th, 1812. His first name was for his grandfather, who fought on the colonial side in the revolutionary armies, and his middle name, Hamilton, was by him subsequently adopted for his great benefactor, Rev. Alexander Hamilton Webster, of Wilkes county, one of the most noted preachers in Georgia, and afterwards a preceptor of Mr. Stephens. His father, Alexander B. Stephens died when Mr. Stephens himself was only fourteen years of age. His mother, Margaret Green, he lost when he was quite an infant.”]
