Cassville. Saturday night at 12 o’clock B.C. Sloan, our beloved neighbor and friend passed away. The hearts of neighbors and friend (sic) were saddened over the parting of this good substantial citizen. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family. Those surviving are his wife and eight children, Crate Sloan, Jr., Miss Emily Sloan, Mrs. L.C. Crowe, Misses Louise, Carolyn and Nelle Sloan and Robert and Jack Sloan. ***************************************** The Tribune News B.C. Sloan, Sr., Rites Monday at Cassville Church Mr. B. Crayte Sloan, Sr., 64 years of age, died at his home in Cassville at midnight Saturday after an illness of long duration. His suffering was intense but he fought valiantly for life and despite his affliction his strong will kept him up and about when a weaker spirit would have yielded. Mr. Sloan was born in Fair Play, S.C., November 1, 1870. Thirty-one years ago he was married to Miss Nellie Smith, a sister of Mrs. C.H. Pittard of Cartersville. Mr. Sloan was a merchant by occupation and was active in community affairs and in the county. He was a devout member of the Baptist church and was a Mason. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 from the Cassville Baptist church with Rev. Amos Cash, pastor, officiating. Mr. Cash was assisted by Rev. M.R. Gaddis. Interment was in Cassville cemetery and the pallbearers were Messrs. John R. Headden, Rob Headden, [illegible] Grier, W.S. Chunn, George W. Gaddis and J.D. Kimsey. Cummings Long Owens funeral directors had charge of the arrangements. Mr. Sloan is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. L.C. Crow, Jr., Misses Nelle, Louise and Carolyn Sloan, of Cassville, and Miss Emily Sloan of Atlanta, three sons, Messrs. Crayte, Jr. Bob and Jack Sloan, of Cassville, one brother Mr. A.L. Sloan of Atlanta, three sisters, Miss Hattie Sloan, Atlanta, Mrs. M.D. Jarman, Miami, Fla. and Mrs. W.S. Killey of Anniston, Ala. The many friends of the family extend deepest sympathies to them in their bereavement.
