DEPARTED this life on the morning of February the third, little LONNIE, infant son of H. J. and Mary SLIGH, aged two years and seven months.

Why lament the baby’s dying?
Why indulge in tears of gloom?
Calmly on the Lord relying,
He can greet the opening tomb.

What if death with icy fingers,
All the fount of life congeals?
Tis not there my baby lingers,
Tis not death his spirit feels.

Though for him my soul is mourning,
Though with grief my heart is riven,
While his flesh to dust is turning,
All his soul is filled with heaven.

Hark! The golden harps are ringing,
Sounds unearthly fill his ear:
Millions now in heaven singing,
Greet his joyful entrance there.

Though cast down, we’re not forsaken;
Though afflicted, not alone;
Thou dids’t give, and Thou has taken;
Blessed Lord, thy will be done.

Mother.
