John A. Shinall, one of the oldest and most widely connected citizens of Bartow county, died at his home in Cartersville Friday night, September 14th, aged 73 years.

Mr. Shinall, though a very old man, was virile and active up until two or three years ago when he was overtaken by a disease which was incurable and which ultimately caused his death. He was born in South Carolina and came to Bartow county when a small boy. He had been a resident of Cartersville for several years.

He was married to Mrs. Mary Knowles, who as a maiden was Miss Donahoo and a sister of Nat and Hnery M. Donahoo, prominent citizens of Cartersville.

Mr. Shinall is survived by his widow and several children and grand-children, and by one sister and two brothers.

The funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at the family graveyard at Stamp Creek.
