Killed By the Train. A terrible accident occurred at Smyrna last Wednesday. Miss Hattie Segars attempted to cross the track in front of the Marietta accommodation. She has miscalculated the distance between herself and the approaching train. Realizing her danger she tried to jump across, but was struck by the engine and thrown about twenty feet. Her injuries were so severe that she died in a short time. Miss Segars was a young lady of seventeen, bright and popular, and her sad death has cast a gloom upon the community in which she was known and loved. |
