The Death of Mr. Scott.

Last week we merely mentioned the death of a son of Mr. Scott, of this county.  Concerning the same matter we clip the following from the Selma (Ala.) Times, of 31st ultimo:

“It transpires that the rumors of so terrible a loss of life and property at Libert Hall, formerly known as Athens, during the cyclone of last Monday morning were greatly exaggerated.  From Mr. Ike Oppenheimer, Martin’s Station, we  learned last night that one man, a Mr. Will Scott, brother of Mrs. John Howard of this city, an unmarried man thirty years old, was killed.

The damage to property was very great; stores, dwellings, cabins, mills, gin houses and countless small buildings dismounted and crushed and blown to bits, marked the wind’s violent course and the devastation was widespread.  It will be remembered our first account of the disaster placed the number killed as three and the missing fifteen.”

We deeply sympathize with Mr. Scott, who remembers his boy as one of the most obedient, good and kind.
