An Awful Tragedy.

On Sunday last Mr. J. B. Russell, a well known and highly respected citizen of Randolph county, shot and killed his two little sons and then killed himself.  His wife and two little girls had gone to visit a sick neighbor, and he remained at home to take care of the little babe and four year old boy.  Soon after the wife left pistol shots were heard, and a neighbor rushing in found the man and his children weltering in blood.

The unfortunate man left a letter expressive of great love for his wife and children, and giving as his reason financial troubles.  His relatives say that he received spinal injuries in a battle during the war, which at times had partially affected his mind.
