To the Death.—Street duel Between Two Sandersville Young Men—Both participants Killed.—One shot through the Head, the other Below the heart—An old feud the cause of the difficulty. Sandersville, Ga., July 15.—The most sensational affray this city has ever known occurred this afternoon. It was a duel between two prominent citizens, and within a few minutes both men were corpses. Richard P. Roughton was shot through the head and Fred Rawlins below the heart, both dying within a few minutes….The two families are related by marriage. B. E. Roughton, mayor of Sandersville, is a brother and brother-in-law of the deceased young men, having married Rawlin’s sister…Both were 23 years of age and were most popular men. |
