“Adairsville”

Col. Rogers died at his home near Lily Pond, Sunday morning last at 7:30 o’clock in his 89 th year. His remains were interred at Salem. The funeral was largely attended owing to the popularity of the deceased. Col. Rogers was a native of Douglas county and came to this county in 1850, locating on Oothcaloga creek, five miles north of this place on a very fertile piece of land. His time was occupied mostly in farming at which he was very successful. Fond of the literary world, Col. Rogers was familiar with all its characters, and as a companion proved to be even in his old age entertaining and interesting.
