Death of T. A. Ripley.
Former Resident of Adairsville Passes Away in Chattanooga.

Theodore Alexander Ripley, better known, perhaps, to many friends and associates as Alex Ripley, died last night at the west-Ellis hospital, before 8 o’clock.  While Mr. Ripley has been in failing health for several years, his death last night was very unexpected, he having appeared much stronger than for some time past.  He came to Chattanooga some eight years ago from Atlanta, his birthplace and up to the time his health failed him was engaged as a traveling salesman for W. T. Green in the hardware business, there being few better known or more popular hardware men in this section.  The deceased leaves a wife, Mrs. Estelle Ripley, a member of The Times editorial staff, and four children; his mother, Mrs. Laura D. Ripley, of Atlanta; three brothers, T. J. Ripley, A. W. Ripley, and Dr. E. C. Ripley, all of Atlanta, and three sisters, Mrs. D. S. Henderson, of Aiken, S. C.; Mrs. Walter H. Robertson of Warrenton, Va., and Miss Sarah Ripley, of Atlanta.  Dr. Ripley was with him at the time of his death.  The body will probably be taken to Atlanta this afternoon for burial, after short services at the home 407 Lindsay street.  Definite funeral notice, however, will be announced later –Chattanooga Times.

Mr. Ripley was a member of the well known Ripley family which for years made their home in Adairsville.  His wife was Miss Estelle Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Martin.
