In the last Index & S. W. Baptist, we note the death of the Rev. James Rainwater, of Campbell county, Ga., which event transpired, at his home, on the 2nd day of June last.  He had been a devoted minister of the Baptist Church since the year 1826, and died in the faith.  Many have been the happy hours that we have spent in listening to the Words of Life as they fell from his devoted lips.  Many the times that he has led us into green pastures and beside still waters of salvation.  ‘Twas he that led us into the baptismal fount, and into the path of Christian duty.  With the poet we say:
“Servant of God, well done,
Rest from thy loved employ;
The battle fought, the vict’ry won,
Enter into thy Master’s joy.”
