Calvin D. Pope, of Kingston, Route 2, died Friday, following an extended illness.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. E. H. Hubbard, Cassville, Mrs. Ralph Cook, Cartersville; Mrs. Dewey White, Buchanan; three sons, Lucius Pope, Odie Pope and James Pope, all of Cartersville; 16 grandchildren; a large number of great and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Owen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl Padgett and the Rev. Robert Rhyne officiating.  Interment was in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Pope was born in Cherokee County, October 9, 1882.  He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church.  He was a member of Kingston Masonic Lodge for 70 years.

[NOTES: Calvin was the husband of Alba Abernathy.  Mrs. Eugene Hubbard is Mina (Minnie) Pope.  Mrs. Ralph Cook is Ruby Pope.]
