Paul D. Pittard Rites Conducted Friday Afternoon Paul D. Pittard, 55, of Cartersville, died suddenly Thursday at 1 p.m. of a sudden heart attack. While Mr. Pittard had been under care of his physician for some months past, his condition was not considered alarming and thus his death comes as a distinct shock to a legion of friends. Mr. Pittard was stricken at the apartment of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hightower. Mrs. Hightower, the former Sue Pasco, being a niece of Mrs. Pittard. Mr. Pittard went there to join his wife for lunch, and soon after reaching the apartment became suddenly ill. Mrs. Pittard called to Mrs. Jack Smith who has an apartment in the L. L. Lowry home and Mrs. Smith called in a physician, who administered first aid. The doctor then informed Mr. Pittard that he should go at once to the hospital and arrangements were being made to transfer him by ambulance, but Mr. Pittard suddenly expired before the ambulance arrived. He was born at Cassville, October 25, 1896, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Pittard, pioneer residents of the Cassville community. He was a member of the Methodist Church and was employed on the sales staff at Whitfield Motor Company at the time of his death. Mr. Pittard was married to the former Eugenia Griffin who survives him. In addition to the wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Joe Martin, of Greenwood, S. C.; one son, William Pittard, of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Sam Pittard of Cassville. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. today at the chapel of Owens Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Adams and the Rev. W. T. Twiggs officiating. Interment was in Cassville Cemetery. Pallbearers included: R. L. Pickard, S. Hightower, Henry Pascoe, Jim Whitfield, Craton Sloan and Frank Kennedy. Owens Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. |
