Lizzie Owens

Died, November 24, at her home in this county of typhoid fever, Mrs. Lizzie Owens, wife of Rev. T. A. Owens, in the fortieth year of her age. Mrs. Owens came into our community a few years ago a perfect stranger and her pleasantness of disposition and true politeness to all won all hearts to her. It was impossible to know her and not to love her as she was a lady of peculiar loveliness. She had a presentiment from the first of her illness that she was going to die and neither her friends or physician could ever get her mind out of the melancholy channel into which she had drifted. During her rational moments she talked freely of dying and expressed a willingness to her husband and others. Her only cross was the leaving of her little children. Mrs. Owens was a model wife, an affectionate mother and an estimable Christian lady. All sympathize deeply with the bereaved husband and children. The hand of death has dealt lavishly with Mr. Owens family, for since removing his wife, has also removed his second daughter, little Lizzie. This is a sad bereavement, but there is a hope that far beyond the tomb where the immortal puts on immortality and life becomes an endless splendor, we will be reunited with those that were loved and trusted here.

Then why should we lament or weep,

If God has thought it best,

To take her soul from earth away

To find eternal rest.
