Aged Citizen is Laid to Final Rest Mr. Marcellus P. Neal Died Saturday Evening at Home of Mr. Stanton Landers, Son-in-Law After a long illness, brought on by the infirmities incident to old age, Mr. Marcellus P. Neal, seventy years old, passed away last Saturday evening at the home of Mr. Stanton Landers, his son-in-law, on East Market street. Funeral services were held Monday at Wofford’s Cross Roads Baptist Church, and were conducted by Rev. George Crow and Rev. W.H. Clark. Interment followed in the graveyard there. Arrangements were in charge of Jackson Furniture Company. A large concourse of friends gathered to pay a last tribute of respect to the memory of this venerable citizen, and during the service two favorite hymns of the deceased, Abide With Me, and Asleep in Jesus were rendered by Mrs. Fred Hendricks, Mr. George Gaines and Mr. Will Gaines. The pallbearers were Messrs. Arthur V. Neal, Crawford Neal, C.J. Smith, H.S. Landers, G.M. Wheeler, and J.W. Bailey. Mr. Neal is survived by three daughters, Mrs. G.M. Wheeler, Mrs. Stanton Landers, Mrs. C.J. Smith, and two sons, Messrs. Crawford Neal and James Neal. County Commissioner Arthur Neal is a nephew of the deceased. |
