A Christmas Accident. On Christmas morning Thadeus Moore, a negro boy about 12 years of age, was shot and killed by Elizabeth Dall, a negro girl 18 years of age. The shooting was accidental and occurred on the Widow Hood’s place, near the lime kiln. The negro girl had borrowed the pistol from a negro named Joe Hawkins for the purpose of having some Christmas fun with it. She was receiving instructions as to how to use the weapon from the mother of the boy, when she accidentally pressed the trigger sending the bullet into the breast of the boy, the latter dying a few minutes thereafter. In the absence of the coroner from the county, Justice Jones, of the Seventeenth district, held an inquest, when the above facts were related and in accordance with them a verdict was rendered. |
