Mr. J. A. Monfort having received the unwelcome intelligence that his father was dangerously ill, went last Saturday to be at his parents’ bedside.  His father’s home was near Fort Payne, in DeKalb county, Ala., and he only lasted a little while after his son reached him.  He was 76 years old and leaves a second wife and three children, Mr. J. A. Monfort, of this city, Miss Willie Monfort, of Crawford, Ga., and Miss Sallie Monfort, of Cedartown.  The late Mrs. R. L. Jones, of this city, was also his daughter.
