Fatal Accident. Just before going to press we learn from Mr. Miles G. Dobbins, jr., of a fatal accident that occurred at the Dobbins ore mine, a few miles east of town. The bank caved in at 2:30 o’clock yesterday, killing a negro man named Jessie Mimms instantly, and fatally wounding Taylor Buford, another negro man, whose recovery is considered impossible. Miles Dobbins was in the mine at the time, and barely had time to escape before the dirt fell in. The recent heavy rains caused the banks of the mine to give way, with fatal results as above stated. |
