“Justifiable homicide,” was the verdict of the jury who held an inquest over the remains of Dolphus McDow, colored, a boy of 12 years, who died Friday from a knock on the head with a hoe, in the hands of Arthur Hightower, a white boy of 13 years. These boys with a number of other boys were at work in the Bray peach orchards Thursday, while indulging in play late that afternoon, they grew angry, the negro taking after Hightower with his hoe. Hightower ran but finally got his hoe also with the above result. |
