Mrs. Mayhew Dead Mrs. Abbie Mayhew died, at the home of Mr. J. O. Ligon, in this county, Sunday, the 26th ultimo. Mrs. Mayhew was 65 years old. She had been an inmate of the home of Mr. Ligon for ten years. She had been in poor health for quite a year and her death was not a surprise to her friends. Mrs. Mayhew was originally from Maine, coming to Bartow county with her husband in 1880. Her husband died in 1895 from bronchitis, to counteract which malady he sought this climate. Mrs. Mayhew liked the climate so well she decided to stay in Georgia. A brother-in-law, Herman Mayhew and two nieces in Maine are the only near relatives who survive her. She was buried at Silver Creek church burying ground, in Floyd county. Mrs. Mayhew had many fine qualities and was greatly beloved by those who knew her. [Another notice of the death of Mrs. Mayhew can be found on page 2 of this issue.] ******************** August 13, 1908 Letters of Administration. J. O. Ligon on the estate of Mrs. Abbie M. Mayhew, late of Bartow county. |
