Mr. Claude Mayes, 78, of 140 Jones St., Cartersville, died on Tuesday, March 9, 1999.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Bohannon officiating, Dr. Ed Rhodes, Pastor. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mr. Mayes was born in Bartow County on May 25, 1920 to the late Gene and Cassie Beavers Mayes. He was married to the former Essie Mae Woods and was retired from Chemical Products Company. He was also a World Warr II army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Essie Mae Mayes; one son, William C. "Bill" Mayes, both of Cartersville; one sister, Rose Goodman of Miami, Fla.; two grandchildren, Ashley Mayes and Felix Mayes; and one great grandchild and a host of other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Eppinger's Funeral Home.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
