Burned to Death

An infant child of Ada Martin, colored, who lives in the northeastern portion of the city, was burned to death in a most horrible way, while the mother was away, on last Saturday.

The infant was left in the care of a three year old sister while the mother went to see some of her kin. It had been left lying near the heating stove on some quilts on the floor. Some fire in some way rolled out on the floor and caught the quilts and slowly burned up with the child laying on them. The little one’s body presented a horrible spectacle when the woman returned, being burnt almost to a crisp.
