DIED,

Departed this life, on the evening of the 6th inst., at his residence in Cass county, after an illness of nine days of malignant fever, Capt. D. F. LEWIS, aged 33 years, 10 months and 21 days.  In the death of Capt. Lewis the community has lost an excellent citizen.  To his bereaved widow and five small children, and aged parents, and a large circle of kindred and friends, his loss is irreparable.  But although our loss is very great, we fondly hope it is his eternal gain.  Peace to his remains.

“Come, lovely youth, embrace the truth,
And join with one accord,
And use you tongue whilst you are young,
In praising of the Lord.
