Died At Cassville. Mrs. M. R. Land, An Aged, Good Woman, Passes Away.
The many friends are much saddened and her relatives deeply mourn the death of one of the oldest and best women of Cassville. Mrs. Mourning Ricks Land died rather suddenly on Sunday last at 2 o’clock. Her malady was heart trouble. She had been in feeble health for some time but was up and about when attacked on Sunday. She fell to the floor, but was assisted to a rocking chair and revived. Another attack however came and she never revived. Mrs. Land was in her 79 th year. With her husband she moved to this county some fifty years ago and they were among the pioneer settlers. Her husband, Judge Nathan T. Land, died about fourteen years ago. Mrs. Land was a member of the Methodist church and was a woman noted for pious work and good deeds. She leaves seven children. They are Misses Hattie and Temple Land, Mrs. W. A. Chunn, and Mrs. C. F. Price, of this county; Mr. John Land, of Jackson, Mr. James Land, of Macon, and Mr. Henry Land, of southern Georgia. The funeral occurred at Cassville yesterday and was largely attended. |
