Robert Adolf Knight, 64, for owner of Knight and Patton Funeral Home, died July 1, 1997, after an extended illness.

Knight was born Feb 1, 1933 to the late Bessie Wilson Knight and Robert Lee “Jack” Knight.  He was a graduate of Clark College and the Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Knight was employed for several years with the Atlanta and Cartersville Police Departments.  He joined his parents in operating Knight and Patton Funeral Home, becoming the owner and operator after their deaths.

Knight was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and several fraternal and social organizations.

Survivors include eight children, Monica Evans, Robert (Bobby) Knight, Robert Jones, Pierre Knight, Gayla Knight, Norma Jean Moore, Amber Knight and William R. Thompson; two stepchildren, Ohaji and Aynna Yarborough; and seven grandchildren, Demetrius Knight, Nikita P. Knight, Shauwan N. Wilson, Andrea E. Knight, Jerrell D. Knight, Eric L. Cole Jr, and Brandon T. Cold.  He is also survived by a brother, Devin D. Henderson; a sister, Jackie Layette; great-aunt Catherine Moore, a friend, A.J. Knight; and a host of relatives and friends.

Family visitation will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church, 521 M.L. King Jr. Drive, Marietta, Wednesday, July 02.  Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery Thursday, July 03, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Alvin Harris officiating.  The precession will assemble at the church at 1:30 p.m.
