Charles Akin Kay, 80, of 226 Kay Road, Taylorsville, died Sunday, August 23, 1998, at Floyd Medical Center.
    
He was born July 14, 1918, in Bartow County, son of the late John Kay and Alice Moore Kay.  Mr. Kay was a machinest for GE.  He was a veteran in the Army, having served in WWII.  He was a member of the Taylorsville Baptist Church.  he was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marcella Kay, two brothers, Elston and Stewart Kay and one sister, Mildred Palmer.
    
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Baynard, of Cartersville; wo sons, Jimmy and Darrell Kay, both of Taylorsville; two sisters, Alma Harris, of Taylorsville and Doris Campbell, of Acworth; two brothers, Cecil Kay, of Rome and HughKay, of Villa Rica; seven grandchildren, Kim Pinion, Deidre Kay, Dustin Kay, Ana Kay, Tammy Ludwig, Tabatha Baynard and Jeff Baynard; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 1998, at Taylorsville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sammy Burgess and the Rev. Danny Roberson officiating.  Interment will be in Taylorsville Cemetery.  His body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour Tuesday.
    
Pallbearers include Richard Harris, JoeHarris, Boby Haney, Lonnie Gentry, Terry Kay and Danny Kay.  They are asked to meet at Taylorsville Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
    
Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Caldwell, David Britt, Paul Kay and Jerry Robinson.
    
The family will receive friends at the Patrick Jennings Funeral Home, Monday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
    
The Patrick Jennings Funeral Home, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
