Rev. Samuel G. Jones passed peacefully away at his home in this city at 1:30 o’clock on yesterday. He was familiarly known as “Grandfather Jones.” He was in his 90 th year and had been in feeble health for some time. He had but very recently celebrated his 89 th birthday by having around him nearly all his family and it was a group that those who looked upon will not soon forget, as five generations were represented by those who were present.

He joined the Methodist Church at 16 years of age and led a blameless life always. His works were all good works that will live after him.

He was the father of twelve children, eight of these survive him, namely: Rev. R. H. Jones of this city; Rev. W. E. Jones, of Atlanta; Dr. J. H. Jones, of Alabama; Rev. A. P. Jones, of LaGrange; H. C. Jones, of Hamilton, Ga.; R. L. Jones, of this city: Mrs. Williams and Miss Mary Jones.

The funeral will occur from the Methodist church on Friday morning at 11 o’clock sharp. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. W. F. Quillian.
