Gladys Towe Jarrett, 78, of 6437 Hwy. 140 N.W., Adairsville, died Sunday morning, Feb. 6, 2000, at the residence following a brief illness. She was born in Bartow County, March 30, 1921, daughter of the late Oscar A. and Bertie Davis Towe. She was a member of Stoner Chapel Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Rev. J.O. Jarrett, of Adairsville to whom she married July 2, 1939; a son and daughter-in-law, Odis and Janet Jarrett of Adairsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Opal and Travis Freeman, of Adairsville; two sisters, Edna Jarrett and Evelyn Jarrett, both of Adairsville, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Stoner Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Emmitt Burgess and Rev. Sammy Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and their spouses. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.[Re-printed with permission from The Daily Tribune News in an effort to help preserve history.] |
