Buena Vista Argus: “Mr. Persons, the mail carrier on the Oglethorpe route, informed us that the house and all of its contents of a colored man, whose name we had forgotten, living on the place of Mr. William Childs, of Grangerville, was burned last Tuesday morning about 11 o’clock.  In the house was a three-year old son of Hillyer Harmon, colored, and he was entirely consumed except the heart and a few bones.  The child was  locked up in the house and all hands went off to the fields, and the child caught on fire and set the house on fire.”
