“Brief Local Items.”

On last Sunday morning the sad news reached our town of Mrs. Emma Gaines’ death, wife of Mr. Geo. Gaines, of Alabama; also the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Kitchens, of this place. She had been married a few months over a year and was sick but a few days. She was a noble Christian woman, and her influence for good was felt by every one whom she associated with. She is singing the sweet songs with the angels and loved ones who have passed aver the river before her. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John W. Edwards, who performed the marriage ceremony a little over a year ago. The whole community sympathizes with the bereaved ones, and may we all live as she did and be as ready to die.
