Jessie A. Franklin, Sr., age 86, of Calhoun passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, at 6:20 a.m. in Gordon Hospital following several weeks of illness. Mr. Franklin was born in Bartow county July 14, 1889, son of the late John and Shara Jane Penn Franklin. He was a retired farmer, member of the Calvary Baptist Church, member of the Sonora Lodge No. 221 F&AM, and a member of the Sonora Eastern Star No. 484. Mr. Franklin is survived by his wife, Mamie Franklin; two daughters, Mrs. Janie Lou Goss of Calhoun and Mrs. Mary Clay Hensley of Cartersville; one son, Jessie Franklin Jr. of Cartersville; two step-daughters, Mrs. Thelma Walker of Cochran, and Mrs. Lois Hall of Smyrna; three step-sons, Jack Campbell of Rydal, Joe Campbell and Robert Campbell, both of Calhoun; two sisters, Mrs. Mabie Wright of Lilly Pond and Mrs. Matt Wright of Cartersville; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; neices and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Franklin were held Monday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren Davenport, the Rev. G.W. Shaw, and the Rev. J.D. Franklin officiating. Music was arranged by the Calvary Trio. Pallbearers serving included Jerry Franklin, Danny Franklin, Jimmy Goss, Jimmy Walker, Jackie Campbell and Boboby Camptell. Interment was in Franklin Cemetery in Bartow County with Sonora Lodge No. 221 F&AM in charge of graveside services. Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home |
