A Former Citizen of Bartow.

Mr. John G. Evans died in Rome on the 1st instant, of fever from which he suffered for several weeks. Mr. Evans was born and raised in Cherokee county, but lived in Cartersville about a year, then in Rome until he died.

He was a brave confederate soldier, being a lieutenant in the 13th Georgia regiment, and received while in service a fearful wound from which he never fully recovered.

He had many friends wherever he was known. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn the loss of a husband and father.

His remains were interred at Canton.
