Dies From Injuries.
Lewis Erwin Hit By Charlie Ransom With An Ax Recently.

A few weeks ago Lewis Erwin, a negro man somewhat up in years got into a difficulty with Charlie Ransom, a well known negro much younger, and drawing a knife on him, as it is alleged, started towards him as if to attack him, making threats the while.  Ransom took up an ax and when Erwin advanced gave him a blow on the head with it.  Erwin was knocked senseless for the time, and though he seemed to finally rally, on examination of a physician was discovered to be seriously hurt.  Erwin died from the blow last week.

Ransom who had been arrested and bound over and gave bond, was required to have his bond increased.  He was carried to jail, pending the making of the bond.
