[1 st column is missing a portion of the first words] A Sad Death. Died at his home, six miles north of Cassville, Mr. J. B. England on the 9 th of January 1897, one of Bartow county’s oldest citizens. He had been afflicted for several years, but bore his afflictions with patience. On the night of the eighth he ate a hearty supper and set up and conversed with company until ?? o’clock and seemed to be as well as usual. He was born in Pickens, S. C., on the 21 st of May 1817. He came to this county and located at old Cassville, on the 10 th day of March ???, and was married to Miss ???ces M. McCrary, on the 6 th day of February, 1840. He was an honest, upright man, and a good citizen, and had a number of warm friends. He will be much missed in the community. He leaves a wife, five daughters and three sons to mourn his loss. S. H.
