Miss Alice Elrod, who died at her home on the 24 th of October was interred in the Hays graveyard on the 25 th. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. Bradley. None were more liked by her contemporaries than Alice. The community sympathizes with the mother in her bereavement, for ‘tis sad to see parental hopes blasted, to see the vitality of youthful promise taken away so soon; but we must submit to the will of God, so

“Rest Alice rest in quiet sleep,

While friends in sorrow o’er thee weep.”
