Grady W. Elliott

Buried Sunday in Oak Hill

Grady W. Elliott, well-known resident of this city, passed away at his home on South Avenue Friday evening, following a lingering illness.

Mr. Elliott was a native of Dawsonville and was born May 22, 1890.  His parents were the late William and Suzanna Graham Elliott.  He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He married the former Idelle Palmour 43 years ago. Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Paul Satterfield, of Atlanta; Mrs. W. A. Gibbs, Augusta; Mrs. George Mitchell, Warner Robbins; Mrs. Welson M. Brannen, Manchester, N. H.; Mrs. Ed Caldwell, Atlanta; five sons, G. Woodfin, Jr., Cartersville; Kenneth L., Jonesboro; Carl P., Aiken, S. C.; Captain Joe F., stationed in Hawaii; Ray, of Atlanta and Cartersville; one sister, Mrs. Emma Swafford, Merkele, Texas; two brothers, John, Abilene, Texas; George, Tyler, Texas; and 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at four o’clock at the First Baptist Church with Owen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  The Rev. J. Howell Perry was the officiating minister and interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
