Samuel Earle Dead. Mr. Samuel Earle died in Marietta last week. Mr. Earle was a frequent visitor to Cartersville and had many friends in this community who regret his death. His quiet, gentlemanly bearing impressed every one he met. Mr. Earle was a nephew of Mrs. C. M. Field, of this city. His cousin, Mrs. Lydie Tumlin, went down to Marietta and was with him in his last illness. He conducted some mining interest about Allatoona for some time. The Marietta Courier says of Mr. Earle’s death: Mr. Samuel Earle died at his home in this city Wednesday, after a short illness with pneumonia. He was 65 years old, and had lived in Marietta for many years, by his gentlemanly and courteous bearing winning the confidence and respect of all our people. The oft repeated term, “a gentleman and a scholar” never fitted a man better than it did Samuel Earle. He was a consistent member of the Episcopal church, and was prepared when the final summons came. His funeral occurred at St. James Episcopal church at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. M. N. George, after which the remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery. We join his many friends in sincere condolence with the bereaved family and relatives. |
