Marion T. Dodd

Marion Tanner Dodd, 79, 400 South Broad St., died today at 7:20 a.m. in a Rome hospital following an illness of three days.

Mr. Dodd was born in Bartow County March 18, 1890, son of the late F. L. Dodd and Virginia Paniza Dodd. He had been a resident of Cherokee County, Ala., most of his life, moving to Rome in 1954. His wife, Ollie Leon Dawson Dodd died Sept. 18, 1959.

Survivors include four sons, Horton Dodd, Centre, Ala.; W. A. Dodd, Anniston, Ala.; Charles Dodd, Leesburg, Ala., Joe Dodd, Jamestown, Ala., seven daughters, Mrs. Ida Parker, Rome, Mrs. Georgia Lee Moters, Centre, Ala., Mrs. Margaret Murphy, Jamestown, Ala., Miss Rena Dodd, Miss Sarah Dodd, Mrs. Louise Cheatwood and Mrs. Rachel Carroll, all of Rome; two sisters, Mrs. Arlena Dodd, Rome, Mrs. Hettie Henderson, Hooklake, Ala.; one brother, Richard Dodd, Rome, 29 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangemnts are incomplete and will be announced later by Jennings Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Marion Guy Tanner Dodd, 79, 400 South Broad St., who died Wednesday in a Rome hospital following a brief illness, will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Davis and Bobby Staton officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Cartersville.

The body will lie in state at the residence Friday morning until the funeral hour. Active pallbearers include Bill Bohannan, Pete Pilcher, Herschel Rittenhouse, Benny Smith, Bob Kerce and Nedsel Acker. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. E. S. Brannon, Dr. C. J. Wyatt, Chief Earl Russell, AZssistant Chief, Alvin Fowler, Carlton Jefts, Buddy Phillips and Howard Marler.

Mr. Dodd, a retired farmer, had been a resident of Cherokee County, Ala. most of his life, moving to Rome in 1954.

Jennings Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
